A Sheffield-based health and wellness brand that works with a number of high-profile athletes has launched a crowdfunding campaign to support its growth plans.

Hippie Turtle Herbal Co, founded in 2020, is a supplier of CBD supplements and products.

It has a particular focus on the outdoors and action sports, with endorsements from a number of skateboard and BMX athletes.

Ashley Heeley, director and founder of Hippie Turtle Herbal Co, said Initiated: “Hippie Turtle Herbal Co was born out of necessity. After being diagnosed with ankylosing spondylitis, a painful condition affecting my spine and hips, I started looking for natural solutions.

“Natural supplements and CBD played a huge role in my recovery process and I started experimenting with different ways of using CBD like making bath bombs and muscle rubs. became clear that these products were gathering a lot of interest and could help so many other people. And that was the start of Hippie Turtle Herbal Co.”

Heeley said Hippie Turtle Herbal Co’s environmental policy is paramount to the company and “will help differentiate us from the market.”

“In a market that’s getting stronger, there just aren’t enough effective solutions that are also kind to the planet,” he said.

“Our boxes and outer sleeves are all FSC certified and easily recyclable. The sachets of our powdered supplements are also fully recyclable, as are the muscle rub boxes. Our products use the best natural and organic ingredients, without ever using oil palm, synthetic or animal derived ingredients.

“Our fulfillment plant operates a climate-positive workforce. Planting thousands of trees and offsetting hundreds of tons of CO2 through a partnership with Ecologi. Again, using recyclable packaging sourced from responsible sources and produce minimal waste (less than 1.3%).

“We’ve also signed with Future Plus, to help measure and extend our sustainability credentials. We don’t see many others in the wellness space committing so much to the planet. For us, it’s a crucial distinction, we feel our audience appreciates and reacts positively too.”

The company is seeking funding of £100,001 through the Seedrs platform, with a 12.9% stake offered to investors.

Heeley said, “So far, we have mainly focused on product development, branding, building an organic D2C audience, and customer feedback. We are now launching the brand, integrating Amazon and engaging with a number of other retail partners; 2022 will be significantly different from last year and we want investors to join us now in supporting this expansion.”

Hippie Turtle Herbal Co intends to use the funding to grow its team; expand its line of complementary beverages, with a focus on nootropics; and raise brand profile with SEO, social media and PPC marketing campaigns.

This will help secure the company’s partnership with Future Plus and support work with conservation projects, further strengthening its green credentials.

The company aims to increase its visibility at exhibition events and expand B2B markets through distributor networking. He also plans to launch a podcast dedicated to natural health to further build brand recognition and support networking with top athletes.

Heeley added that plans are in place to support future growth.

“Our D2C business is very important to us and will be the primary growth focus for 2022 as we are able to maintain strong gross margins and build relationships directly with our users,” he said.

“We will be launching on Amazon in the very near future, working with Amazon specialists to maximize growth in this new route to market. Additionally, we are actively meeting with some of the UK’s largest retailers and aiming to make multiple product presentations on the Product Guru platform throughout the year.

In April, we will participate in FIBO, introducing our brand to the European market at the largest fitness exhibition in Europe. Our Vitality powder supplement was entered into the prestigious FIBO Innovation and Design Awards and was recently selected by the jury for the next stage of judging.
