All ELLE brand editions will be fur-free.
SHE goes without fur
ELLE International (including ELLE Canada) – in collaboration with Lagardère, Humane Society International and Creative for Change – has announced that it is ending the promotion of animal fur on all platforms: from print magazines to online social media. The brand created a charter, which was signed by the magazine’s 45 global editions (including us!). It’s a new standard that will be applied to editorials, press, runway and street style imagery included in every issue of ELLE.
Valéria Bessolo Llopiz, international director of ELLE, declared that “animal fur is no longer online
No more editorial or advertising fur in the pages of ELLE
with our values ”, and wanted to“ take a stand on the crucial issues of protection and respect for the environment ”. With this decision, ELLE International becomes the first international magazine to make such a statement. This is an important step, and one that increases awareness of the environment and animal welfare. It also supports the demand for sustainable and ethical alternatives in the fashion industry. Already applied in 13 editions of ELLE, from January 1, 2022, this charter will apply to 20 others. For the remaining editions, readers will have to wait until 2023 to see them align with this commitment.
